Ski Trip Planning
Every line of a Changbaishan ski week, what is already in the price, and what Niseko charges for the same four days on snow.
That is SGD 4,323 for two adults and three children in two connecting rooms. A family of three — two adults and one child sharing a single room — starts from SGD 729 per person. Flights are extra and quoted separately; the full budget including them is further down this page.
This is the part that matters, because these are the exact items other quotes bill as extras:
No visa either — Singapore passport holders enter mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days.
Same family, four ski days, three days of children’s lessons. These are Niseko’s own published 2026/27 peak rates, bought the way a family actually buys them — separately.
Niseko figures are published 2026/27 peak rates for lift passes, equipment hire and children’s group lessons. Accommodation, meals and the Sapporo transfer are not included in them.

At both tiers, a Niseko week runs about 1.6 times the price. Same five people, same five days, same three days of lessons for the children, and rooms matched to rooms — SGD 800 a night against our 4-star, SGD 1,500 a night against our 5-star.
The saving actually grows as you go up: SGD 1,193 a head at the mid tier, SGD 1,436 a head at 5-star. Niseko’s premium rooms and restaurants price for two decades of international demand. Changbaishan’s do not.
We can arrange rental, but we usually tell families not to. Rental averages around SGD 20 per person per day, so a five-day trip for a family of five costs about the same as simply owning the gear — and you keep it.
Decathlon covers a family cheaply and is ten minutes from most of Singapore. Taobao is cheaper still, and has one trick worth knowing: you can ship your order straight to the hotel. It is waiting at check-in, so nobody hauls five sets of snow gear through two airports.
This is the sort of thing we would rather tell you than sell you.
Where Japan wins: Niseko has two decades of English-speaking ski infrastructure and a snow reputation Changbaishan is not trying to match. If your children already ski confidently and you want that powder, go — price is not your deciding factor. This page is for families whose children have never skied.
The package is the part we control. Here is the honest whole, so nothing surprises you later.

Flight prices move daily, so treat SGD 1,100 per person as an estimate rather than a quote — we price them live at the time of booking. Spending money at SGD 35 per person per day covers dinners, snacks and souvenirs; breakfast, lesson lunches and both hosted dinners are already in the package. The same trip at our 5-star Sheraton tier comes to SGD 12,283 for the family, or SGD 2,456 per person.
Only one of those three lines really moves. Book roughly 20 weeks before a December departure and you hold the flights down; everything else is fixed the day you confirm.
Check the party size first. A per-person figure quoted on two adults and three children sharing rises if your family is smaller — transfers and rooms are fixed costs spread across fewer heads. Nothing changed except the arithmetic. This catches people out more than anything else.
Then add back the extras. Ask what a lift pass, four days of gear, lessons, both transfers and lunches would cost. If a quote leaves them out, add them before you compare.
Then ask about the last mile. Changbaishan Airport is 25 minutes from the resort. Niseko is two to two and a half hours from Sapporo. Nobody itemises a transfer bus, but you pay for it on travel day with tired children.
